Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal

Ideally, no. The Sixers will hope to avoid this situation this summer. 

They will probably have to retain James Harden in order to do so. Otherwise, this team is going to be in a difficult spot. They’ll be losing Embiid’s co-star without receiving anything in return. 

Will they have other options? Sure. The Sixers already have Tyrese Maxey. They could find another star – but, that star won’t be as impactful as James Harden.

It may make more sense to switch gears. If so, this is a good trade for the Sixers. They’re getting two quality young players in Robinson and Quickley.

More importantly, they’re collecting four first-round picks and two swaps.
