Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
The Warriors do the deal because they’ve already burned their bridge with Kuminga.
The well is already poisoned. At least, it appears to be. If Kuminga wants out, that’s reason enough to move him.
It’s not all bad. Toppin does have good upside. He’s got a high defensive motor and plenty of offensive value in transition. This is a solid young player.

He just doesn’t have Kuminga’s potential. That’s why the Warriors are landing an unprotected pick and a swap here as well.
All told, that’s a solid return for a player who seemingly wants to leave in the first place.
Hopefully, the Knicks can help him maximize his potential.
