Of course, Kuminga isn’t the only young player around the NBA who’s been under-utilized. This happens. 

It’s interesting. When a young player lands on a  team like the Warriors, it’s often viewed as a blessing. Yes, there are advantages to learning in a winning environment. On the other hand, how much can you learn when you’re not on the floor? 

With that said, landing on a team in the midst of a long-term tanking process can be a problem in its own right. Players learn bad habits.

All told, the ideal situation for a young player probably lands somewhere in the middle. 

It also depends on who’s on a young player’s roster. For example, look at Toppin. He’s been stuck behind Julius Randle in the Knicks’ rotation for years.
