The Boston Celtics are in the Eastern Conference Finals. One might think that fans would consider this a successful NBA season regardless of the outcome.
One would be wrong. The Celtics made the NBA Finals last season. Fairly or not, the bar was raised. The Celtics were supposed to win it all this season.
That’s looking increasingly unlikely. The Celtics are currently down 0-3 to the Miami Heat. If they came back to win this series, it would be unprecedented.
Let’s assume that they can’t. Jaylen Brown’s subpar performance in the Conference Finals will be seen as a big reason why.
With that in mind, the Celtics could opt to trade him this summer rather than offer him the supermax contract he’ll qualify for.
Could they send him to his hometown Atlanta Hawks?
