There is a downside to blowing up your core. If the Blazers made this move, they’d likely resign themselves to a long rebuilding process. Time will tell whether they’ve got the stomach for that.
The Heat certainly don’t seem to have it. This organization has made a habit of avoiding rebuilds at all costs. At the same time, they have the luxury of being able to do so.

That’s because the Heat play in perhaps the most desirable market in the NBA. Portland is a fine market in its own right, but we couldn’t say the same.
The Blazers have never been a marquee free agent destination.
