Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G/F Andrew Wiggins, G/F Gary Payton III, 2026 First-Round Pick (GSW), 2028 First-Round Pick (GSW)
Golden State Warriors Receive: F/C Karl-Anthony Towns
This deal features two former number-one picks. With that in mind, it’s not as league-altering as one might think.
Of course, it’s significant. This would be a major deal. Still, it’s not the type of blockbuster that would blow up NBA Twitter. Why is that?
Well, Wiggins has not performed like a typical number-one pick. For a long time, he looked like a bust. Luckily, a late-career transition into elite role-player status has largely helped him avoid that label.
On the other hand, Towns has the offensive production of a number-one pick. Still, defensive limitations have weakened his trade value.
