Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

We almost had the Bulls acquire Ayton. In the end, we thought better of it.

The Bulls need to be starting from scratch. If they’re landing Ayton, they’re taking a building block from the onset of their rebuild. 

That’s what they’re doing here. The Bulls are strictly flipping DeRozan for a pair of first-round picks. This deal does nothing for them in the short term. 

This deal would probably portend other deals for the Bulls. They should move Zach LaVine in a separate transaction.
