Some NBA fans believe that it’s vital for a big man to anchor a defense. Others will disagree.
It’s a judgment call. Having a big man who defends the rim is a tremendous advantage. With that said, some big men are offensively gifted enough to compensate for their defensive limitations.
For example, take Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s one of the worst interior defenders in his position.
With that said, his offense is good enough that teams will work around his limitations.
By contrast, Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks doesn’t offer nearly as much on offense. On the other hand, he is an elite rim protector.
Could they two find themselves involved in a blockbuster deal this summer?
