Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

The Julius Randle experience has been a little frustrating for the Knicks. 

At times, he’s looked like that franchise player that could carry them. At other times, he’s looked like a liability. Here, the Knicks are finally getting off of that roller coaster. 

They’re also handing the keys to Jalen Brunson. He’s looked like the Knicks’ best player this year. Why not commit a larger slice of the offense to him? 

In the meantime, this deal arms them with two solid rotation players in Clarkson and Olynyk.

It also nets them an extra first-round pick that they could eventually use as a piece in a trade for a star.
