Why The Cleveland Cavaliers Do The Deal
With this deal, the Cavaliers are committing to Evan Mobley at the 5.
In time, that’s likely to be a necessity. Mobley has shown some promise as a decent shooter, but he’s unlikely to develop into a sniper. The Cavaliers need better spacing next season.
Besides, Mobley will be the most mobile, switchable big in the entire NBA. The Cavaliers will need to target a more bruising, traditional 5 for situational minutes.
Still, they’d be better off abandoning the twin towers look next season.
With that in mind, Williams would be the perfect addition. He’s a 4 who can guard multiple positions and a knockdown shooter. Add in a solid rotational guard in Pritchard, and who knows?
