You may not think this is fair value for Irving. You may be right. 

If we’re strictly looking at his talent, it isn’t nearly a fair return. Without any intention of disrespecting any of the Wizards players involved here, they are not Kyrie Irving. 

Unfortunately for Dallas, this speaks to Irving’s unpredictability. Until further notice, Irving is a permanently distressed asset.

That’s how Dallas was able to acquire him for Dorian Finney-Smith and a first-round draft pick. Moreover, any sign and trade typically fails to bring back equal value. Irving can walk.
