Brooklyn Nets Receive: F/C Brandon Clarke
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F Dorian Finney-Smith
Of course, the Brooklyn Nets are already out of the playoffs. They were the only team to get swept in the first round this year, courtesy of the Philadelphia 76ers.
This leaves Brooklyn in a strange position. Ordinarily, we’d suggest they rebuild. Yet, the circumstances here are far from ordinary.
The Nets owe their first-round picks to the Houston Rockets, whether outright or via swap, until 2027. They cannot tank. In some ways, this team is backed into a corner.
Realistically, they’ve got two options. They could try to trade Mikal Bridges and/or Nic Claxton to the Rockets for their picks back. Alternatively, they could package the picks they do have for a star.

What the Grizzlies need is a stable, non-controversial option to deploy on the wing next to Ja Morant and Desmond Bane. Adding Finney-Smith does just that.
Does this deal benefit them either way?
