Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal

As far as the Raptors were concerned, this season was a disappointing one. It seems like their front office is aware of that fact. It has been reported that Toronto has just fired Nick Nurse.

There is no doubt that change is afoot north of the border. Thus, it makes sense for the organization to acquire a young, budding Canadian star like Sharpe at this juncture.

In addition to being a potential franchise player for Toronto, he is considered a hometown hero as well. There is no doubt that the Raptors could use a guard like Simons in the near future.

In the coming season, the Raptors should benefit from his ability to produce in the half-court. With Fred VanVleet set to reach free agency, Toronto could pivot with its backcourt entirely.

The Raptors would still need to make a decision with what they’re doing with Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl. If the team wants to remain competitive, re-signing Poeltl would be the play. Can Scottie Barnes thrive at the three spot? If not, Siakam should be traded.

Should the Blazers really part with him?
