Why The Oklahoma City Thunder Do The Deal 

Of course, the Thunder have been undergoing their own process. It’s ironic. Oklahoma City has been tanking to maximize their draft capital.

The goal has been to land a franchise-altering star. As it turns out, they had one all along in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Now, it’s time to consolidate.

The Thunder have an outrageous amount of draft capital – they can’t even use it all. Why not spend it on the presumptive MVP? Some will be concerned about the fit between Embiid and Chet Holmgren. We’re not.

Both players can shoot. Meanwhile, Holmgren’s thin frame may not lend itself to playing the five anyway. The Thunder could field him at the four as a weak side-shot blocker and have an unstoppable defense by pairing him with Embiid.
