If Embiid requests a trade, it will officially mark the end of The Process. That’s what the 76ers’ tanking process came to be known as.
The Sixers intentionally lost games for years on end in a bid to land a franchise-caliber player. In the end, Embiid was that guy.
Eggs were broken in the process of making this omelet. Nerlens Noel, Jahill Okafor, Markelle Fultz and – to a lesser extent – Ben Simmons were all failed lottery picks.
With that in mind, cutting ties with The Process now will be painful. The Sixers – and their fans – sacrificed a lot to get here.
