Draft Taylor Hendricks 

Of course, there are some benefits to the disappointing season that the Dallas Mavericks just had. The team now has a strong chance of retaining their own first-round draft pick.

The Mavericks owe their pick to the New York Knicks with top-10 protection. If they’re able to keep it, they should look at UCF forward Taylor Hendricks. 

This is a 6’9 forward who should be able to defend multiple positions. Hendrick also projects as a floor spacer. All told this is a player who’s likely to be selected in the top 10. 

A contending team may be apprehensive about relying on a rookie. At the same time, let’s go back to the Kings. Keegan Murray was solid in the postseason for them against the Golden State Warriors.

In a simplified role, a rookie like Hendricks should be able to make an immediate impact for the Mavericks. That would certainly help his career get off to a hot start.
