Sometimes, the thing that almost happened is only inevitably going to happen later. The same holds true in the NBA trade market.

You and your partner almost broke up? We hate to be the bearer of bad news. Unfortunately, there’s a pretty decent chance that you’ll break up later. 

A deal that almost went down may still go down later. If a player is the constant subject of trade rumours, there’s a good chance they’ll eventually be traded. 

For example, look at Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers. Plenty expected the Pacers to trade him – instead, they extended him.
