Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal
This is not a traditional rebuilding package for the Bulls.
They aren’t receiving a single first-round pick here. If that’s their motive, they’ll have to look beyond Toronto. They don’t have the contracts they’d need to make a deal that was pick-focused.
With that said, perhaps the Bulls don’t need to plummet to the bottom of the team. Flipping LaVine for a younger player who’s similarly impactful could be a smart move too. That’s what they’re doing here.
After all, Anunoby isn’t as dynamic of an offensive threat as LaVine. Still, he’s one of the best 3-and-D wings in the NBA.
