Some NBA players fall short of expectations. Others exceed them.
Meanwhile, some just about meet them. You couldn’t confidently say that they fell short of people’s hopes.
At the same time, you couldn’t say they exceeded expectations, either.
For example, look at Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is a former number-one pick. The expectations couldn’t be much higher.
Yet, Towns is one of the best offensive big men in the NBA. Still, he has not led the Timberwolves to contention. If his time with the team ended today, he would leave a complicated legacy.
Could it end this summer?
