Rebuilding an NBA team is a long process. It occurs in stages. 

First, teams look to accumulate talent. They aren’t thinking about whether the pieces fit in that stage. They’re simply looking to land as many talented young players as they can. 

From there, teams need to consolidate talent. That’s when they start picking and choosing who is part of their core. If a player doesn’t fit, he could be due for a new team. 

Does Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic fit with the rest of this Magic roster? One could argue that he doesn’t.

Sure, the Magic just recently spent a high lottery pick on him.
