Why The Boston Celtics Do The Deal 

Boston won’t actively shop Brown unless they feel forced to do so. If they have a clear understanding that he plans on leaving next summer, they’ll look at trading him. 

With that said, we doubt they’ll punt on contention. The Celtics may prioritize quality players over first-round picks. This deal nets them a couple. 

Herro is obviously the main draw. This is still a player with some All-Star upside. Herro is a gifted shot creator. Meanwhile, Martin is a solid 3-and-D wing. 

Still, the first-round picks do count here. If Boston chooses, they could maybe use them to make another trade at the deadline.
