We’ll admit that this looks bad for Minnesota. Considering what they gave up for Gobert, they aren’t getting much for him here.
Those are just the optics. The four first-round picks that Minnesota gave up for Gobert are gone. They’re a sunk cost. At this point, his trade value has declined.
With that in mind, this is a solid return. From a value perspective, they’re mostly trading Gobert for Josh Green, a first-round pick, and a swap.
Still, the Wolves could use each veteran they’re landing here. Lineups featuring Towns and Bertans will be brutal on defense, but they’ll provide the type of spacing that Edwards should thrive in.
