As the NBA offseason heats up, the Miami Heat are exploring significant roster enhancements, setting their sights on acquiring shooting guard Bradley Beal from the Phoenix Suns.

This potential move follows Beal’s underwhelming stint with the Suns, highlighted by a costly contract and a first-round playoff exit, prompting Phoenix to consider offloading his hefty salary.

As Bleacher Report outlined, the proposed trade would see Bradley Beal heading to Miami. At the same time, the Suns would receive Terry Rozier, Duncan Robinson, Josh Richardson, and a 2026 second-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers.

This deal comes after Phoenix realized that the trio of Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker, which is set to be the most expensive in basketball next season with a combined salary of approximately $150.7 million, may not be sustainable.

Phoenix’s flexibility in trading Beal is somewhat restricted due to the new second-apron trade restrictions. These limitations mean the Suns can’t take back more than Beal’s projected $50.2 million salary for the 2024-25 season in any trade, cannot send cash in trades, and are prohibited from aggregating contracts in a trade.

Despite these challenges, Miami emerges as a fitting trade partner. The Heat, who finished the regular season with only the 21st overall offensive rating, could significantly benefit from Beal’s scoring and playmaking abilities.

Beal would join a core that includes Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Jaime Jaquez Jr., enhancing Miami’s competitiveness without sacrificing future first-round draft assets.

For Phoenix, trading Beal would allow them to shed significant financial burdens and add valuable assets. Rozier could seamlessly take over Beal’s spot in the starting lineup, offering substantial cost savings and solid production. Meanwhile, Robinson’s three-point shooting prowess could help space the floor for Durant and Booker.

Given his no-trade clause, Beal’s approval is crucial for this trade’s success. The deal would require Richardson to opt into his $3.0 million player option for the next season.

This strategic shift could serve both teams well, providing the Heat with a much-needed offensive boost and offering the Suns a chance to recalibrate their roster around Durant and Booker while improving financial flexibility.
