Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal 

Well, it feels like Robinson is likely to request a trade this summer. That’s the first reason for the Knicks to get involved here. 

After all, rostering an unhappy player comes with its own disadvantages. If Robinson is impacting the team’s chemistry, it may be time to move on. If he requests a trade, that holds especially true. 

With that said the Knicks could justify this deal either way. Yes, Robinson is one of the best defensive bigs in the NBA. Nobody is denying that – but Vassell is a two-way player. 

The Knicks could benefit from adding a 3-and-D wing with secondary shot-creating and playmaking abilities like him.
