The New York Knicks are one of the most enigmatic franchises in the NBA. 

It’s always felt like this team should attract top-shelf talent. The Knicks ought to function like the Los Angeles Lakers. They shouldn’t need to unearth diamonds and develop talent – it should come to them. 

It doesn’t. The Knicks have generally struggled to land franchise-altering talent in free agency. For whatever reason, players have reservations about joining them that extend beyond their market size. 

Yet, a funny thing has happened along the way. The Knicks have gotten very good at unearthing diamonds and developing talent.

For example, Jalen Brunson has developed into an absolute star during his first season in New York.
