Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal

Some will not like this deal for Detroit. They’re presumably looking to take a step forward next year, and Bogdanovic could be instrumental in that goal.

Fair. At the same time, the Pistons are far from the playoff hunt. A step forward could mean play-in contention. They can still accomplish that goal after this deal.

IN fact, the veterans they’re bringing in here should be valuable members of their rotation. Bullock remains a solid 3-and-D. Bertans’ defense makes him unplayable on a serious contender, but his floor spacing will benefit Detroit.

Of course, that’s not the point here. In this deal, the Pistons are just a rebuilding team acquiring a first-round pick and a swap.
