It’s been said that one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure. It feels weird to apply that cliche to NBA players.

These are people. Still, the principles roughly apply. 

One team’s bad contract could be another team’s third option. After all, each team in the league is in a different situation with a different roster.

It makes sense that they’ll have different needs. For example, take Tobias Harris of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Plenty of critics would say that he’s on a bad contract, and limiting the Sixers’ flexibility. Perhaps he is. 

He’d still make a pretty good third option on the Dallas Mavericks.
