Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal 

When the Hawks acquired Dejounte Murray, it was to help Young. Nobody expected he’d be his replacement. 

After all, Young is an incredible playmaker, but a weak defender. Murray is outstanding in that area. He was supposed to cover for Young at the point of attack. 

Unfortunately, the two don’t seem to be a strong pairing on offense. With that in mind, the Hawks may prefer to commit to the stout defender. If Young wants out of Atlanta, that’s even more true. 

This deal has them bringing another elite defender on board in Anunoby. In fact, the Hawks could have one of the best defensive teams in the league following this deal.

They’re also receiving the same number of first-round picks that they sent out for Murray, plus an additional swap.
