Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

In simple terms, the Bulls do this deal because they don’t have the star players they’d need to justify rostering a role player like Caruso. 

In other words, this wouldn’t be the only deal the Bulls would make this summer.

In all likelihood, they’d be moving all three of their star players if they’re going this way. This is about rebuilding for Chicago. 

With that in mind, this is a good return. Obviously, the Bulls aren’t in this for Reid. They’re doing the deal for the Lakers’ 2029 pick.

Granted, it’s top-4 protected. That’s fine. If the Bulls think they’re getting an unprotected pick in exchange for Caruso, they may be in for a rude awakening. 

After all, he’s just a role player.
