Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
Realistically, it depends on how you view Mark Williams.
The Hornets rookie has had a solid debut season. Some will suggest that he’s earned the right to the Hornets’ starting position. That’s fair enough.
On the other hand, a little competition won’t kill him. Onkongwu has struggled to usurp a veteran like Capella, but the situation in Charlotte would be different. He’d have a fair shake.
After all, he’s a more versatile defender than Williams. Onkongwu does a better job of defending in space, while Williams is likely a better stationary rim protector.
