Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

We’ve basically outlined this deal from Brooklyn’s perspective. They’re landing an offensive star player to avoid tanking. 

They’re also doing it without giving up any of their core pieces. In fact, Simmons is widely viewed as a net negative at this point. That’s why the Nets are parting with so much draft capital here. 

It’s worth it. Getting off of Simmons is its own reward. Still, the main incentive to do this deal is to acquire Zach LaVine. 

Is he a top-10 player? No. Will he carry the Nets to the Finals? Unlikely. Still, LaVine and Bridges surrounded by elite defensive players should be a recipe for returning to the postseason.
