Sometimes, people set expectations for themselves. If they expect to succeed, others will likely expect the same. If they fail, is it really fair to blame others?
Just look at the Bulls. Why did this team have such high expectations around it? Isn’t it because they acquired Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic? These are all star players. The Bulls were supposed to win games.
Sure, people recognized that this was a poor defensive core. Their combined scoring powers were supposed to outweigh those concerns.
