The NBA’s trade market has seen radical changes in recent years. 

Stars seldom used to request trades. When they did, they were usually traded for other stars. These days, everything is different. 

Today, stars are usually traded for a huge collection of first-round picks. Teams trading stars don’t generally look to stay competitive anymore. Now, they tend to start the team from scratch.
