In fact, this wouldn’t be the first time Anthony Davis was the best player in a deal. 

When the New Orleans Pelicans sent him to the Lakers, they knew he was the best player in the trade. Everyone did. Can we say the Pelicans lost that deal? 

It’s hard to say. Perhaps some deals don’t have strict winners and losers. It’s fair to say that the Lakers didn’t lose. After all, they won an NBA championship afterward. 

At the same time, it’s hard to say the Pelicans lost this deal either. They received Brandon Ingram for their troubles. They’re also still drafting in the Lakers’ place.
