Why The Oklahoma City Thunder Do The Deal 

Let’s ask a related question. What’s the point of a rebuild? 

Isn’t it to put the most talented roster together that you can? In that event, the Thunder would have to do this deal. After all, they’d be acquiring one of the most talented players in the NBA. 

In fact, Embiid is a bonafide MVP candidate. He’d be the best player on a roster that already features Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Those two would make for one of the very best duos in the NBA. 

If there are concerns here, they’ll have to do with Embiid’s fit alongside Chet Holmgren. We’re not worried. Holmgren could thrive at the 4 early in his career as a weakside shot blocker. If they don’t fit?
