This would be another sign and trade. This time the Los Angeles Lakers are receiving the newly minted free agent. 

Of course, we’re not the first to link Kyrie Irving to the Lakers. In fact, far from it. Plenty of observers around the league could foresee a situation where James and Irving reunite this summer. 

If that’s the plan, the Dallas Mavericks will be cornered. With that in mind, this is a good return. Significantly, they’re getting a pick in the same year they gave up one for in to get Irving.

Add in a replacement playmaker in Russell and a rim protector in Bamba, and they’ll take this over watching Irving walk.

Meanwhile, this deal should really get the Lakers back on track. Irving would be the best guard partner James has had since, well… Kyrie Irving. We saw these two win an NBA championship before.
