At what point does an NBA team decide that a season is lost? 

That’s not an easy decision to make. Players, coaches, and general managers alike tend to be competitive by nature. Most of them will look to fight until the bitter end. 

On the other hand, sometimes a season is simply lost. A team has no viable means to improve, and the pieces they do have don’t seem to fit.

If it’s late in the season and they still aren’t clicking, it may be time to call it quits.
