Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

Given the limited opportunities Moody has been provided, it’s hard to talk about what he does. 

Let’s talk about what he’s supposed to do. In theory, Moody is a 3-and-D wing who provides some secondary playmaking. In other words, in theory, he’s perfect for the Lakers. 

Meanwhile, this team shouldn’t miss Hachimura’s shot creation. LeBron James can handle the bulk of that. Assuming they retain D’Angelo Russell in free agency, the two can make enough plays for the Lakers to live off of. 

This is a gamble for LA. They’re trading a more proven player for a relative unknown. Still, if Moody blossoms into what scouts saw leading up to the draft, it’ll be a trade worth making.
