Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal
In some respects, the Pelicans are a lot like Barrett this year. They’ve got plenty of potential, but they haven’t lived up to it.
At the beginning of the year, it looked like they might. The Pelicans appeared playoff bound. Now, at 30-31, they’re at risk of falling out of the play-in tournament.
Still, all hope is not lost in New Orleans. Williamson has been healthier than he’s been in most years, and he’s looked the part of a franchise player when he’s been available. Still, the Pelicans could benefit by taking a step backward.
That’s what they’re doing here. Partly, they’re banking on the preexisting chemistry between Williamson and Barrett.
