Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal
For starters, it’s been rumored that Hayward wants out of Charlotte. If that’s true, the Hornets should certainly do this deal.
As a matter of fact, they should do it anyway. Hayward is not the player the Hornets hoped they were acquiring years ago. At this point, he probably never will be.
Anyway, the Hornets don’t need secondary playmaking as badly as they need a starting-caliber big man.
Rookie Mark Williams has flashed potential this season, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be ready for that role for another season or two.
