It’s nice when your expectations are surpassed. Sometimes, NBA teams surpass our expectations as well.
It’s a pleasant surprise. Perhaps you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. You could feel a bad day in your bones. You step out and find $100 on the ground. Your expectations have been surpassed.
When a team has a subpar season and doesn’t make significant changes, we expect another subpar season. Sometimes, a change they did make is more significant than we thought.
For example, look at the New York Knicks. If you didn’t expect Jalen Brunson to look like a star, you weren’t alone.
He does, and this team is significantly surpassing our expectations.
