Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
Well, this deal is predicated on the possibility that the Sixers fall apart this summer. In all likelihood, it would take a first or second-round exit for that to happen.
In that event, Harden is likely to hit the road in free agency. Perhaps he’ll reunite with the Rockets, or he may head elsewhere. Either way, this is a player who’s developed a reputation for leaving when a situation doesn’t suit him.
Don’t be surprised if a Joel Embiid trade request follows. The Sixers won’t be eager to make this deal this summer. The question is whether it’s a good deal for them if they’re forced to move Embiid in the first place.
It is. Adebayo is a star in his own right, and he’s significantly younger than Embiid. Of course, he’s not as good as the MVP candidate.
