Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal 

Embiid has been linked to the Heat before. Partly, that’s due to his relationship with Jimmy Butler. 

The two briefly teamed up on the Sixers. Butler left, but it didn’t seem to have anything to do with Embiid. He’s publicly expressed his admiration for the big man on more than one occasion. 

Why not bring the pair back together? This isn’t a complicated deal to justify for the Heat. They’re bringing in a perennial MVP candidate. Embiid is one of the best two-way players in the entire league. 

Sure, the Heat will miss Adebayo. Parting with him and a pair of first-rounders will sting. In this case, it’s a moot point. The Heat would be acquiring Joel Embiid.
