Why The Los Angeles Clippers Do The Deal
For years now, the Clippers have had two options at the 5. One is Ivica Zubac. The other is a small-ball 5.
The latter looks are effective. The Clippers field multiple lineups that can switch everything on defense and space the floor on the other end. With that said, those lineups struggle to defend the rim.
Why not land a big man who can do both? That’s Bamba. With him in lineups, the Clippers would be able to run five-out offense without compromising their rim protection.
They’d be getting him at an affordable cost here, too. Again – the Clippers have plenty of players like Covington already.

This deal allows them to diversify their assets. In other words, it gets one cook out of a crowded kitchen.
