Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

If it’s true that this era of Bulls basketball has been limited by its lack of defensive ability, the organization may like this deal. 

After all, Allen is one of the best rim-protecting big men in basketball. He’s also young enough to qualify as a building block if the Bulls opted to rebuild. 

They may or may not opt to do so. One could imagine a world where the Bulls build an offense around DeRozan next season.

With better injury luck for Lonzo Ball and a decent additional acquisition, they could look better than they have this year.

On the other hand, they could trade DeRozan and start over. Either way, Allen, Okoro, and an unprotected first-round pick is a good package in exchange for LaVine.
