This team seems to have a plan every season to acquire a superstar in the hopes of making the playoffs. It never works out in the end. Despite their best efforts, the Knicks always seem to come up short.
A few years ago, it appeared as if the plan was to sign Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. As a result, they turned down the Knicks in favor of joining New York’s other team in Brooklyn.
There was a plan to trade for Donovan Mitchell this summer. They were beaten to the punch by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
