Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal

It is probably not the case, in all honesty. As a matter of fact, if NBA trades were made on the basis of name value, DeRozan would fetch much greater returns than this.

It is unfortunate for the Bulls that they aren’t. On the open market, DeRozan’s value will be limited by a number of factors.

He’s getting older, he’s not a good defender, and he’s an even worse floor spacer. As you can see, this is not the type of star that a team will be willing to trade the farm for.

In light of this, a strong 23-year-old 3-and-D and an unprotected first round pick should suffice. Chicago would have a lot of the top point of attack defenders in the NBA at that point.

There is no question that if the Bulls want to rebuild, they will have to trade DeRozan, and this offer is likely to be as good as the Bulls will get in the near future.
