Why The LA Clippers Do The Deal
In the first place, if the Clippers turn around their season in the next couple of months, they won’t sign this contract.
In the event that they do not, they may have to make some major changes. It would be a disappointment to see this team fall short of expectations if they were not able to make it to the Conference Finals. In the event that they do not meet that bar, the Clippers may have to do something drastic in order to succeed.
In my opinion, that is a partial justification for this deal. There are times when you have to change something for the sake of changing it when something isn’t working.
That being said, isn’t there some redundancy between Leonard and George when it comes to certain tasks? Yes, their functionality is compatible with one another. Is there any doubt in our minds that the Clippers would benefit from adding a new wrinkle to their game?

As a matter of fact, that’s what this deal does. With this acquisition, they will have a dominant inside presence to pair with Kawhi Leonard. Would it be a good idea for the Lakers to send one to them?
