Why The Dallas Mavericks Do The Deal 

The Mavericks would certainly be draft poor following this trade. 

Who cares? The purpose of draft capital is to build a contender – one way or another. The Mavericks wouldn’t need their picks following this trade. They would have assembled one of the best teams in the NBA. 

As constructed, they’re a bit short of that mark. The Mavericks could use a 3-and-D wing, and they could use a stronger third offensive option behind Doncic and Irving. 

This deal kills both of those birds with one stone. Recently, Bridges has looked like a player who can create his own offense. He’s also one of the best 3-and-D wings in the NBA.
