Well, we basically already told you why the Wizards do this deal.
It’s over. At this point, it’s impossible to envision the Beal era yielding an NBA title. Frankly, it’s hard to imagine the Wizards making it back to the playoffs.
They need to start over. That much is undeniable. The question here is whether this is the right way to go about it.
We think so. Beal is far removed from contending for scoring titles. He is no longer a player who will net them 4-5 first-round picks.

With that in mind, two first-rounders, a swap, and a pair of intriguing young players in Bouknight and Jones feel like a solid return.
